First Lutheran Church

This weekend we continue our study of the Small Catechism.  Starting in September, we have studied the 10 Commandments and the Apostles’ Creed.  Today we conclude a three week study of the Lord’s Prayer.  Next week we will begin a study of Confession and Forgiveness.

The season of Lent begins this week with Ash Wednesday and extends for six weeks.  Each Wednesday during Lent we will offer two midweek services of worship.  We will offer an afternoon service at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel and an evening service at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.  Make worship a part of your Lenten discipline.

Water surrounds us in our natural world, in oceans, rivers, and lakes.  Water is absolutely necessary for life.  From the first chapter in the Bible to the last, water plays a key role.  Come and find out how your life has been marked with water and discover what this means for your future!

Come and join us for some light refreshments and discussion following the mid-week Lenten services (Wednesdays at 4:00 and 7:00).  While we are not assigning groups this year, the structure will be very similar to last year.  Participants described that experience as “welcoming,” “non-threatening,” and “fun!”  We hope to see you there!

In the past, we have enjoyed Lenten suppers each Wednesday evening before gathering for the midweek Lenten service.  We are looking for people to prepare simple meals, so check your recipes and your calendars, then sign up to host a meal. Remember, no cooks, no meals!

The PACT group will be meeting today @ Little Apple Lanes from 3-5 p.m. Cost will be $10 per person (includes drink). Please feel free to invite your friends! We look forward to meeting new families!

On Sunday, May 6, we will be welcoming a group of new members and associate members.  If you are interested in being part of this group and would like to learn more about taking this exciting step, contact Pastor Keith.

The Nominating Committee would like to give everyone the opportunity to serve as a member of the Church Council, Endowment Committee, Synod Delegate or Nominating Committee.  If you would like to learn more about these positions you may call Dan Russell  or Jelane Cook for details.  We want to make sure you have a chance to share your gifts.

Do you have questions about the Israel trip?  Please join us for an informational meeting on Sunday, March 11 @ 9:15 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. We will answer your travel questions and will talk about the sights we will see along the way.  All are welcome-both those who are planning on attending and those who are just curious.  We hope to see you there!

Please join the Youth on Ash Wednesday, February 22nd for a delicious meal prepared by Dave Bollman.  We will start serving @ 6p.m.
